EMYLEE'S SIXTEEN!

Emylee's sixteenth birthday was on the 21st, and we all had a great day, especially Em. Her birthday weekend started on Friday when she went out to dinner with a group of her friends. On Saturday we took her out for dinner and sushi with my parents, Joel's parents and Eryn & Russ. She started off her Sunday morning, her official birthday, by getting her gift....

Then she spent the afternoon with her mom and they had a family dinner for her. We then went to Joel's parent's house for cake and ice cream. I had ordered her a cake from my friend, Amilyn's sister-in-law in Shelley who makes wedding cakes. It turned out way cuter than I had imagined.

Notice the cute little candles that make the number 16, she created those out of frosting. The entire bow on top was also edible. Jefferson was waiting for his birthday to have his first taste of birthday cake, but since it was such a special day, he let Emylee give him his first and only bites of cake. I think he enjoyed it, I know the rest of us did. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted really good too.

It was a perfect day. We are so lucky to have Emylee in our lives and love her so much!

Cute Pictures

My favorite part of looking at other people's blogs is seeing all their cute pictures so I diecide to add some more of my favorite pictures. As you might have guessed Jefferson is my main subject.

This picture was taken a little while ago. Sam and Christine sent this outfit for him and he looked so cute in it.

This was his St. Patty's Day shirt and I probably took about 40 pictures of him on that day. I just printed them out on Monday and can't wait to do the scrapbook page.

This is one of Jefferson's favorite things to do now that it's warm. He loves to sit out in his stroller and watch Joel as he's working in the yard.

He is such a happy baby. He almost always has a smile on his face.

These next ones are all from our Hotel Party. Every year my family goes and stays in a hotel and goes out to dinner and swims in the pool and has a ton of fun. This year was so much fun because it was the first time we had taken Jefferson swimming.

I saved my favorite new picture for last. I just love this picture, they are both smiling and as always Emylee looks beautiful. We have blown this up and framed it for both of our parents.

Fun Long Weekend

It was so nice to have a day off and to get to spend it with family. On July 3rd they actually have fireworks in Rigby, so Joel, Em, Jefferson and I all headed to my Uncle Mitch's house and watched the fireworks from his backyard. Jefferson loved them, he started looking around when he heard the first bang and then didn't take his eyes off of them until he feel asleep. On the 4th we headed to Rigby again and Joel went golfing with and brother, Matt while I went to Aunt Marian's. Everybody played in the drybed and then we had a bbq. It was a perfect day because it was slightly overcast so it wasn't too hot and we were able to be outside and enjoy ourselves. Then we headed back to Idaho Falls for round two of the fireworks. Jefferson wasn't as thrilled the second time around because he was so tired, he had only slept for about an hour and half all day. On Saturday we hung out at home, I did laundry and Joel worked in the yard. Then we went back to Rigby again and had dinner with Joel's parents, Matt, Sam and Savanna. On Sunday after church Joel decided we needed to invite my parents to dinner, luckily they came to our house so we had one day where we didn't go to Rigby. I love that we have so much family close by and get to spend time with them, but it also makes me sad that not everyone can be here. It's been a while since I shared some pictures, so here are some of Jefferson enjoying the nice summer weather.

I hope everyone else loved their fourth of July weekend as much as I did and is enjoying this great summer.

One of Those Days

In fact it's been more like one of those weeks. On Monday night Jefferson felt warm to me. On Tuesday my mom called and said he had a fever and she had given him some medicine. Tuesday night I took him to my Primary meeting, he felt warm and was fussy. His temperature was 101.7 when I got home and took it and he woke up four times during the night. Wednesday morning I came to work and was only here 15 minutes before I went home to take care of him and get my house ready for a jewelry party I was hosting that I had planned three weeks before. Before he went to sleep his temperature was 102 but he only woke up once during the night. Thursday morning Jefferson woke me up and he felt normal and was sitting in bed by me being his happy, normal self. I was so tired so I called in late for work and tried to get Jefferson down for a nap. After four tries I gave in and just laid down and held him and we both feel asleep in my bed. He felt warm again when he got up from his nap but Joel's mom Marty came to our house and watched him for me. I got to work a little after twelve and at about a quarter to three Joel called and said he was on his way home because Emylee was home and had called him to say Jefferson had thrown up. I called the doctor and left work. Luckily we were able to get into the doctor quickly. She said he has an ear infection and that his throat is a little pink and gave us an antibiotic (of course when we were at the doctor's office his temperature was only 98.4). We gave him the antibiotic last night and he didn't like that at all, he had to take a teaspoon and a half which seems like a ton for a baby. He was so tired and fought it but finally fell asleep a little before 8, just to wake up again at 10:30. I thought I could just feed him and lay him back down, but Jefferson thought otherwise. He finally fell asleep at 1:07am. He woke up once more in the night and then my alarm went off. As hard as these last few days have been for me, I know they've been even worse for Jefferson. We are all looking so forward to the weekend and a chance to relax and be home with nothing to do.

Something New

Joel and I discovered something new that Jefferson likes last night. We had gone to dinner at Ming's, a yummy Chinese restaurant that we love downtown. Jefferson was so tired and I had him asleep before we left but when I put him in his car seat he woke up. So I was worried about entertaining him while we were eating but Joel found the perfect thing. I have to give you a little bit of back ground first though. About three months ago Jefferson decided that he didn't like his binky and it made him mad when we would try to give it to him. While we were camping I pulled the binky out of the diaper bag to let him play with and he chewed on it for a while. So last night at dinner he had been playing with it and Joel dipped it the sweet and sour sauce. Jefferson thought that was great and sucked on it for over five minutes before he took it out, looked at it, and put it back in his mouth. We did it a few times during dinner and he loved it every time. We started him on baby food and cereal about two months ago and I love to see how he reacts to new things. When I bought baby food last time they had "pineapple glazed ham" he hasn't tried it yet but we'll see how he like it. I didn't have my camera last night to take pictures but here are some cute one of him eating.

Notice his cute little bib, Em got it for him right after he was born and it says "I'm the Little Brother". Speaking of Emylee, she gets home tonight and we are all so excited. I didn't think she was coming home till the fifteenth so I was pleasantly surprised when we found out she was flying in tonight. We have all totally missed her and Jefferson is going to be so excited to see her. I have chicken in the crock pot for dinner tonight because it's one of Em's favorite, it's so nice to go home and already have dinner cooking.

Birch Creek

Joel, Jefferson and I packed up the trailer and headed to Birch Creek for the long weekend. Despite the chilly weather, we had so much fun. We went with our friends, Jared and Amilyn and some of Jared's family. The only trees there are along the creek so it wouldn't be a fun spot in the hot summer. It was a great place for the 4-wheelers so the boys had a lot of fun exploring. We camped right next to the creek (which my brilliant landscaping husband told me, got it's name from all the red birch trees that line the creek). Joel found a great fishing spot for the kids, Paige who's only five caught (and released) four in about fifteen minutes. Kodie and Paige, Jared and Ami's girls, love Jefferson. Kodie would come over to our trailer a couple times a day just to play with Jefferson and he loved all the attention. It was so fun to take him camping for the first time and he loved it, especially sitting by the fire with Joel. Yesterday I took Jefferson into his room to show him we were home and he kept turning looking back towards Em's open door. I seriously think he was looking for her. Emylee left for Seattle last Friday to stay with Laura for almost three weeks and Jefferson is already missing her. One more weekend tidbit, Jefferson is teething. Ami has never seen Jefferson fuss but she did Saturday night when we were playing games and she thought it was so strange. She also noticed he was pulling at his ear a little. Then we started to put the pieces together. He's been really stuffy lately, it's seemed like his eyes have been kind of watery and last week he started waking up between 5 and 6 and normally he sleeps till 7. It's weird though because he just gets whiny at night. It makes me sad because I'm so used to having Jefferson happy all the time but I'm also excited for these teeth to break through and to have something new to take pictures of and to blog about.

Slide Show

So I made this way cute slide show with some of my favorite pictures (some of them are on my last post). It took me a while and I finally got it added to my blog, but it messed up everything else on the page. So I decided to just post the link and then you can view it through the rockyou website. Here it is http://www.rockyou.com/show_my_gallery2.php?ec=ss&instanceid=112913883 so I hope you enjoy it. Everyone have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather, I know we will.
